Kelly James , PT, DPT
Kelly graduated from George Mason University with a major in Biology and minor in Exercise science. She went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2016. Since graduating, she has immersed herself in diverse patient populations across the country. She has experience working with pediatrics, neuro, geriatrics, chronic pain, surgical post-op, prolonged recovery following surgery, and wound care. She particularly enjoys working with patients who have had limited success in the past to work on new approaches and methods in order to provide better outcomes and a greater return of function.
Kelly has spent the early part of her career as a traveling physical therapist, working in different clinics in Alaska, Maine, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. She has also traveled to Guatemala to provide physical therapy treatment in underserved areas. While traveling remains a top priority, she is now settled in the Northern Virginia area.
Kelly has been a proud member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Virginia Physical Therapy Association (VPTA) since 2013. She participates in regular continuing education to stay up to date on current best practice and has participated in specialized training to become certified in dry needling. Kelly enjoys a collaborative and hands on approach in her practice. Her patients are encouraged to participate in the planning of their treatment to help ensure they have a unique and personalized approach that fully address their goals.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her two rescue dogs, spending time on the water in kayaks or on a paddle board, weight lifting, practicing knitting and needle point, dabbling in photography, and traveling to find adventures locally, nationally, and internationally.
